To stimulate or facilitate change (psychotherapy, training, social attitudes, activism) to benefit the subject, the community and the environment.
The interventions are distinguished by a kaleidoscopic perspective, in which the individual, the local and the small-scale are articulated and reflect the collective, the global and the macrocosmic. Psychism is not only individual or family-determined, but is shaped by historical, social and cultural parameters and is intertwined with the corporeal. The psycho-historical but also organic perspective (in which the psychic and the physical are closely linked) leads to an approach that gives meaning to the symptom or phenomenon in a larger context and suggests corresponding ways of dealing with it. In this process of interconnecting between the individual and the collective, the symbol plays a key role. The symbol is not understood as a mental construction, but again as a meeting point, as a conjunction, of the organic/physical with the mental. Through symbols, we can understand the inner world and facilitate change. Respect for all forms of life, as well as a critical perspective on the normative role that both psychology and social anthropology had – especially in their early years – are central pillars of the philosophy of interventions.
Psychotherapy
As a psychotherapist of individuals and groups, I passionately explore the depths of the human soul. As a companion with people, I accompany them until they discover their strengths and overcome life’s challenges or the constraints of their history. Combining psychology with creativity, as well as anthropology – which helps to perceive cultural parameters that would otherwise not be considered – within a safe environment and a specific psychodynamic therapeutic framework – I offer an approach that releases the potential of each individual. Art and creativity are powerful tools for self-awareness, dealing with trauma and personal growth.
Lectures
I support schools and other organisations, delivering lectures and organising workshops on psychosocial health and contemporary challenges. Such cases include students’ anxiety before exams, the management of exam failure, how parents or the school can help students, conflict management, etc.
The topic and the way of presentation depend on the context, the population and the objective, while the accompaniment of experiential methods is recommended. In any case, however, public participation is essential.
Corporate programs
The arts and outdoor activities are adopted as mediums in a symbolic way in training or problem-solving in organisations and companies. Creative design and intervention in the private or public sector are personalised, taking into account all factors, including the company or organisation’s culture and its operating context.
The objectives of the interventions undertaken are:
Training
Workgroup empowerment and burnout prevention
Personalised request/specific theme
External supervision is offered to the group of employees in the organisation to improve intra-group relations and facilitate communication.
Research
Research is a very vital element of my work and, in general, of my life. It is the field of inspiration and renewal, redefinition, and experimentation. Its goal is the continuous improvement of therapeutic practice in addressing individual, family, or collective trauma and its transmission to future generations. Experiments, whether at an individual level—especially through workshop seminars and other events—or in collaboration with colleagues, or within the framework of organizations and laboratories, explore the potential of therapeutic tools, the combination of methods, the adoption of expressive methods from other cultures, which have an organic effect on psychology, and psychosocial empowerment in times of crisis.
The results in these fields, as well as from anthropological inquiries using the ethnographic method, are presented at international and European conferences or published, in order to be open to scientific dialogue, a necessary prerequisite for them to be officially integrated into practice, to lead to new therapeutic proposals, and to provide new impetus for further investigation.
The research activity, in addition to collaborations within the private sector, is also open to cooperation with domestic and international Institutes and Academic institutions.
However, since many of these researches are conducted through private initiative and with high personal investment, any sponsorship is welcomed!
